The Xavier Commitment.

You value your education as an important step to your dreams and goals. In this very difficult economic environment, we know that affordability is of paramount concern to our students and families.

The Xavier Commitment reflects our longstanding mission as a Jesuit university: To offer students and families the best resources to afford the quality Xavier education you want and deserve to prepare for lifelong success.

Xavier's Office of Student Financial Assistance will work one-on-one with you to review financial tools and resources ranging from scholarships, grants and alternative loans to campus employment opportunities and payment plans.

Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid can be a complex but a worthwhile task. The Office of Student Financial Assistance at Xavier is here to help students and families through the financial aid process. Our goal is to provide timely information and quality service while making a Xavier education affordable.

Yellow Ribbon University

Xavier University is a Yellow Ribbon School. If you are eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, your tuition is covered at Xavier at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The GI Bill also allows eligible veterans to transfer part or all of their benefits to a dependent family member.

If you qualify at 100% eligibility that means everything not covered by the GI Bill is paid for by Xavier and tuition is covered. To qualify for all of your benefit, you must have an honorable discharge after 36 months of active service.

A Quality Education

Xavier's MBA program is accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

In addition, Xavier University is accredited by:

  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC):  One of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States, HLC accredits more than 1000 colleges and universities in nineteen states (including Xavier University). Visit the HLC website for information on HLC policies, programs, services, and educational materials.
  • The Ohio Department of Higher Education:  All profit and non-profit private schools of higher education obtain a Certificate of Authorization from the Ohio Department of Higher Education in order to issue degrees, offer for-credit coursework, or programming. Certificates of Authorization are granted for specific degrees and courses as well as specific periods of time and are filed with the Office of the Secretary of State of Ohio. Xavier has been authorized since 1925.

  • Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA):  A national advocate and institutional voice self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation, CHEA is an association of 3,000 degree-granting colleges and universities and recognizes 60 institutional and programmatic accrediting organizations. CHEA provides a powerful tool to search for accredited institutions and/or programs by state or accrediting body, offers resources on diploma/degree mills, and other resources and publications related to accreditation.

GMAT Waiver

MBA GMAT Waiver Policy
Though standardized test scores play a significant role in determining an MBA student’s potential, we at the Xavier’s Williams College of Business also recognize the value of professional work experience and certifications. Because of this, a request for GMAT/GRE waiver can be made by candidates who have five or more years of professional or military experience.
Why We Value Standardized Test Scores
Applicants to our MBA programs come from a wide range of professional and academic institutions. Because each of these universities and organizations impart a unique set of skills on our applicants, reviewing common factors such as standardized test scores can be extremely useful for our admissions committee. The traditional graduate school exams of GMAT and GRE are the tests that often provide this information.
The Value of Professional Experience
Creating a diverse community of students is an essential element of Xavier’s MBA programs. Our students bring unique experiences and perspectives to our classrooms, facilitating a rich, collaborative learning environment. Forgoing the GMAT/GRE permits established, mid-career individuals to focus on their graduate studies – tapping their experience, skills, and ideas – and not having to divert time, energy, and funding to a standardized test.
Military and the GMAT Waiver
Although we do not offer military members or veterans course credit for their service, we do value the leadership and decision-making skills developed during military service. For this reason, we also allow military members and veterans with five or more years of military experience to apply to our programs and request waiver of the GMAT/GRE.
Securing a GMAT/GRE Waiver
If you believe your professional experience qualifies you for a GMAT/GRE waiver when applying to Xavier’s online MBA program, please contact an admissions counselor at 513-745-4800 or mbaadmit@xavier.edu who can walk you through the process of applying without submitting test scores.
Applicants may petition for a GMAT/GRE waiver based on a variety of criteria, including:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • High Academic Achievement (note the average Xavier MBA student cumulative undergraduate g.p.a. is 3.2)
  • Professional business certifications such as CPA, CFA, etc.
  • Progressive work experience of 5 years or more with demonstrated career growth
  • Completion of Masters or terminal degrees or post graduate certificates from degree granting institutions

Note, applicants must submit all other required application documents before a waiver will be officially granted.
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request a standardized test score (GMAT or GRE) from any applicant. In rare cases during the review process, the Committee may not be able to make an informed decision solely on the information provided. In these cases, an admissions counselor will request a test score on the Committee’s behalf.
